This morning’s announcement from NCL extending their suspension through December 31, 2020, is as shocking as opposing politicians disagreeing about… Everything.
Even though there is excitement about the CDC letting the no sail order expire, the fact is, there is much work to be done by the cruise lines before cruising will resume in any meaningful way. Although the Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings brands are the first of what I call the “Big Seven” cruise lines to announce suspending through 2020, they won’t be the last.
Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. (“Norwegian” or “the Company”) (NYSE: NCLH), a leading global cruise company which operates the Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises brands, today announced an extension of its previously announced suspension of global cruise voyages to include all voyages embarking between December 1 through December 31, 2020, for its three cruise brands. The Company will continue to work in tandem with global government and public health authorities and its Healthy Sail Panel expert advisors to take all necessary measures to protect its guests, crew and the communities visited.Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd.
Guests affected by NCL extending their suspension will receive the following:
- All guests with current and active bookings affected by this suspension will automatically receive a 100% refund of the fare paid, back to their original form of payment.
- All affected guests will also receive a 10% Discount coupon off a future cruise, valid for published sailings from January 1, 2021, through and including December 31, 2022.
With NCL extending their suspension, they’re also making some good changes to their Peace of Mind policy and final payment deadlines.
- New and existing bookings made by November 30, 2020, on any sailing through October 31, 2021, are covered by Peace of Mind allowing guests to cancel up to 15 days before embarkation.
- 60 Day Final Payment Policy extended to voyages with embarkations through April 30, 2021.
